Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6th, 2026

DozyBlue (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. DozyBlue helps you pick up your media from around the point you fell asleep, whether you were watching a film or series, listening to a podcast, enjoying an audiobook, or playing a video. To provide this, the app uses sleep data shared with Apple Health by your compatible sleep-tracking device to estimate when you drifted off and suggest a media resume window. We understand that sleep information is personal health data, so protecting it and being clear about how it is used is one of our highest priorities.

1. Who We Are

Data Controller: DozyBlue. Location: United Kingdom. Contact: hello@dozyblue.com.

2. Scope

This policy applies to the DozyBlue mobile app and related services. It does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not control.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide and improve the app:

4. Sources of Data

We collect data (a) directly from you; (b) from your device with your permission (HealthKit on iOS); and (c) from app activity (e.g., media timestamps).

5. How We Use Your Information

We process your data for the following purposes and legal bases:

6. Health Data

We only access health data if you explicitly grant permission. DozyBlue reads sleep data from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS to estimate sleep onset, calculate sleep duration, generate sleep session reports, and provide media resume suggestions. Health data is not used for advertising, tracking, marketing, data mining, sold to data brokers, or shared externally except where necessary to provide the service.

DozyBlue accesses sleep data only through Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS. Sleep data availability and accuracy can vary depending on how your sleep-tracking device records and stores sleep sessions and sleep stages within Apple Health. As a result, some devices may not provide data in a format that DozyBlue can fully interpret.

7. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with:

8. International Transfers

Some of the service providers we use, including Google Firebase, may process personal data outside the UK or European Economic Area (“EEA”). Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by applicable data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.

You can contact us for further information about the safeguards used for relevant international transfers.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

These measures include access controls, encryption in transit and the use of reputable cloud service providers with security protections for stored data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Data Retention

We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law. Typical periods:

If you delete your account in-app, we will delete your personal data from our active systems without undue delay. Deleted account data may remain in backup systems for up to 7 days before being automatically removed.

11. Your Rights

Under UK and EU GDPR (and similar laws), you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to processing, and data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

If you are in the UK, you can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.

To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@dozyblue.com.

We may request additional information to verify your identity before acting on a request and will respond without undue delay and within one month where required by law.

12. Children

DozyBlue is not directed to children and should not be used as a product for children’s health or wellbeing. As set out in our Terms, you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by your country’s laws) to use the app; under-18s require parental permission.

13. Your Choices & Controls

You stay in control of your data and experience. In particular, you can:

14. Third-Party Services & SDKs

DozyBlue uses Apple Health (HealthKit), Apple App Store services, Google Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to provide app functionality, subscriptions, cloud infrastructure and crash reporting. These providers may process limited personal data in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are material, provide an appropriate in-app notice or other notification before the changes take effect.
